About

I am Professor of Political Theory at University College London.

I have written on a range of topics including the communitarian critique of liberalism, popular attitudes to social justice, the relation between public opinion and political philosophy, the normative aspects of class analysis and social mobility, educational justice, the morality of school choice, whether comprehensive schooling is bad for social mobility, the relation between ideal and non-ideal theory, the ethics of family relationships, the regulation of religious schools, and the relation between justice, legitimacy and democracy.

I previously taught at Balliol College, Oxford, where I founded and directed the Centre for the Study of Social Justice, and the University of Warwick.
